Tracking References & Citations

"Reference Tracking" is the process of tracking down the sources cited by previous authors to follow a scholarly conversation and build up your background in the literature. You can also go forward in the literature, moving from articles you find to articles that cite that particular article. This is called "Citation Tracking." This page will orient you to these two research methods.
