The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) were adopted with the goal of career and college readiness by emphasizing critical inquiry and creative problem solving - habits of mind characteristic of many college curricula. However, there has been little dialogue among teacher educators and arts and sciences faculty about how they might enrich students’ understanding of complex texts and ideas.
This Workshop is designed to provide a platform for creative exploration of the use of inquiry-based learning as a tool in development of evidence-based arguments and teaching of complex texts and ideas with School of Education, Arts and Humanities, and Natural and Social Sciences faculty – particularly those who teach Teacher Candidates.
