Lehman faculty – As many of you are aware – New York State has provided funding for converting courses to Open Educational Resources [OER] for the past seven years. Across Lehman – faculty have taught with Creative Commons-licensed learning materials and incorporated Open Educational Practices to center student learning and engaging students as creators.
Please fill out this form to express interest in learning more about Open Education and/or converting a course to OER. Preference will be given to those received before June 20, 2025.
Other applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Funding amounts vary by project. A typical course conversion from a commercial textbook to OER is $2000 for lead instructor and $500 for faculty following lead instructor’s work.

Example syllabi for teaching with OER are available on CUNY Academic Works. These syllabi highlight how faculty have transitioned from commercial textbooks to openly licensed resources.
