Background Information

Searching Tips

Different databases will provide you with access to different kinds of information. First, determine the focus of the database. Then reflect on what keywords -- search terms -- will best lead you to useful articles or other kinds of information. Combine the name of the country you're researching with either a political or economic topic/issue. You may need to think out broader terms or narrower terms to get to what you're looking for. You may also need to think out or discover synonyms or related concepts as you go forward.
