Legal Dictionaries and Encylopedias are useful reference tools because they provide a brief introduction to different areas of law and include citations and other information about the topic. Legal Encylopedias are organized much like a general Encylopedia, and  provide an outline of each topic that includes a brief "scope note" that will tell you what the article covers. This scope note is important because it may also help you find resources for your research.
