Welcome to the Guide for your class library assignment.
This site includes four short videos that you will need to watch before your library visit. They include an overview video on the inquiry process and three videos on how to find social studies resources:
2) Lehman College Library, Resources: Library Catalog, Mas Ultra database
3) NYPL (New York Public Library), Resource: Digital Gallery
4) NYC DOE (New York City Public School), Resource: NOVEL Databases
Assignment
Watch these four videos. Find a resource (either a database, article, or image) that you would like incorporate into a lesson for your students in middle school or high school. Print out the resource, fill out the form in the upper right box, and bring both to class.
The lesson(s) could include a single resource that the students read/view or the lesson(s) could include student inquiry in a database. Consider your reasons for selecting your resource(s).
Questions
Use the 24/7 Research Help link to the right if you have any questions about finding resources. You can also call Alison Lehner-Quam, Education Librarian, M-F, 9-5, at 718-960-7756.
From off-campus, Lehman users will be prompted to log into databases, e-journals, e-books, and other subscription resources via their CUNYFirst Credentials.
Your CUNYFirst Credentials are the same as your BlackBoard Credentials. Using Firefox as your browser is recommended.
