Now you can download an ebrary e-book:

  • Click the "Sign In" button at the top right and sign in with your Library Barcode. (Can't find the sign in button?)
  • Find the book you want to download.
  • Click the "Download" button in list mode or while viewing the document.
  • Select the option to "Download the entire document." Click OK.
  • The number of days that the e-book will be readable is displayed. Click "Download."
  • The file with the downloaded book will be in "Downloads" or the "My Digital Editions" folder on your PC.
  • Right-click on the file and choose "Open with Adobe Digital Editions" to open the downloaded book file. You’ll be prompted to sign in to your Adobe account. The book will then open in Adobe Digital Editions.

Your book will be "checked out" for 14 days. After 14 days it will no longer work. You can also return it early.

Transfer a Downloaded E-Book to a SmartPhone, Tablet or Other Supported Device (not Kindle)

  • Download the e-book to your computer using the directions above.
  • Connect your supported device to your computer (e.g. Kindle Fire is supported; Kindle is not supported).
  • Launch Adobe Digital Editions and sign in to your account.
  • Adobe Digital Editions automatically detects your device and may offer to authorize the device with your Adobe ID.
  • The device now appears as a new bookshelf in the library. Drag and drop the downloaded title(s) you wish to transfer to your device.
  • Open the Bluefire Reader app on your mobile device to read the book!

Return a Downloaded E-Book, or Remove an Expired E-Book from Your Device

EBook Central ebooks automatically expire at the end of the loan period and are rendered unusable at that time.

You don’t need to return downloaded ebrary e-books, but since you can only have ten ebrary books downloaded at a time, you may need to return a book early so that you can download others.

To return an e-book early:

  • Open Adobe Digital Editions.
  • Right-click on the title you wish to return early.
  • Select "Return Borrowed Item."
  • Click "OK"

Note: returns may take up to an hour to be recognized by ebrary.

To removed an expired e-book from your list:

  • Open Adobe Digital Editions.
  • Right-click on the title that is expired and you want to remove from your listing.
  • Select "Remove from Library."
  • Click "OK."
